Screened Security Alarm Cable - Foil & Braid Shielded Cable for EMI-Prone Environments

Screened security alarm cable is a shielded multi-conductor alarm cable with a metallic screen (aluminium foil, copper braid, or both) wrapped around the cores to protect low-voltage alarm signals from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI). It is the correct choice when cable runs pass near mains wiring, fluorescent lighting, motors, transformers, variable-speed drives or radio equipment. Available in 2 to 24 cores, shielded with foil, braid or foil-plus-braid, with PVC or LSZH jacket and CPR EN 50575 fire performance. Jiaxing Doublewin Cable Co., Ltd manufactures this cable in-house in Haiyan, Zhejiang, China and supplies it in bulk worldwide.

Why Clients Choose Our Security Alarm Cable

Reliable low-voltage signal cabling built for security alarm and access control systems, delivering stable performance and simple on-site installation.

Optimized Multi-Core Construction

Our multi-core security alarm cable packs multiple conductors within a single outer sheath. This consolidated design simplifies cable routing, reduces wiring clutter and reserves spare cores for future system expansion.

01

Robust Outer Sheath & EMI Protection

Premium sheath material offers strong abrasion and tear resistance. Screened versions include foil shielding to block electromagnetic interference, keeping alarm signals stable near motors and power cables.

02

Flexible Customisation for Project Needs

We support various core counts, conductor options (OFC / CCA) and sheath materials including PVC and LSZH. Tailored AWG sizes and sheath printing available for different commercial and residential security projects.

03

Rigorous Batch Quality Assurance

Every production batch is fully tested for conductor resistance, insulation integrity and screen continuity. Strict finished-cable inspection ensures uniform quality and reliable long-term operation for alarm systems.

04

                                                                                               Quality Control & Testing

Every reel is 100% tested before shipment. For screened cables we test shield continuity and resistance of the foil/braid screen and drain wire, insulation resistance between every pair of cores, and high-voltage withstand between all cores, the screen and the sheath. A sample of each batch is retained for full traceability. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TÜV) welcome.

Conductor Resistance

We verify conductor DC resistance to guarantee consistent signal transmission and avoid excessive voltage drop for long-distance alarm wiring.

Core-to-Core Insulation

Insulation resistance and high voltage withstand tests ensure no leakage or short-circuit risk between individual cores, even under continuous operation.

FAQ

Q: What is screened security alarm cable?

A:Screened security alarm cable is a shielded multi-conductor alarm cable with a metallic screen (aluminium foil, copper braid, or both) wrapped around the cores to protect low-voltage alarm signals from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI). It is used when cable runs pass near mains wiring, motors, fluorescent lighting, VSDs or radio equipment.

Q: What is the difference between foil, braid and foil-plus-braid screening?

A: Foil screening (F/UTP) uses an aluminium/polyester wrap with a drain wire and gives 100% coverage. Braid screening (S/UTP) uses a woven copper shield giving ~85% coverage but better flexibility. Foil-plus-braid (SF/UTP) combines both for 100% coverage and maximum EMI/RFI protection, at higher cost and lower flexibility..

Q: When should I use screened alarm cable instead of unscreened?

A: Use screened cable when runs pass near mains wiring, fluorescent lighting, motors, transformers, variable-speed drives, radio transmitters, industrial kitchens or medical equipment. In quiet residential environments, unscreened cable is usually sufficient and more cost-effective.

Q:How should the screen be grounded?

A: Ground the screen at one end only - typically at the control panel - to avoid ground loops. Connect the drain wire (or braid) to protective earth with the shortest possible pigtail. Do not ground both ends, as this creates a current loop in the shield that can inject noise.

Q: Does screened cable cost more than unscreened?

A:Yes, screened cable costs slightly more due to the foil or braid material and the extra production step. However, it prevents false alarms and unreliable operation in noisy environments, which is far more expensive to resolve after installation.

Q: Can you customise the shield type and core count?

A: Yes. Any core count from 2 to 24, any shield type (foil, braid or foil+briad), and custom conductor colours and brand marking. Custom print MOQ is 10,000 m.
