Heat Resistant Silicone Wire - Factory Direct Supply Flexible High-Temperature Silicone Insulated Wire

Heat Resistant Silicone Wire is high-temperature resistant electrical wire built with silicone rubber insulation. It delivers outstanding thermal stability and flexible performance for demanding electrical applications.

The silicone insulation withstands continuous high temperatures while remaining soft and flexible. It resists ageing, ozone, moisture and mild chemicals, maintaining stable electrical insulation under harsh working environments. Multiple conductor options are available including OFC pure copper and tinned copper, with a wide range of AWG sizes to match different current load requirements. Our heat resistant silicone wire complies with common industry standards. It can be customized on conductor cross-section, insulation thickness, outer colour, cable printing, reel packaging and private label. This wire is widely used in home appliances, industrial equipment, power supplies, lighting, motors, battery harnesses and automotive internal wiring.

As a direct manufacturer, we provide bulk OEM production, sample testing and full technical documentation to support distributors, harness assemblers and engineering installers worldwide.

Heat Resistant Silicone Wire - Temperature Grades

Selecting the right heat resistant silicone wire starts with two numbers: the continuous operating temperature and the short-term peak temperature. The three grades below cover most applications.

+200°C

Standard silicone · continuous

Tinned copper conductor with silicone rubber insulation. Continuous rating -60°C to +200°C, short-term peaks to +250°C. The workhorse grade for ovens, appliances and general high-temp leads.

+250°C

High-temp silicone · continuous

Higher-temperature silicone compound and tinned or nickel-plated copper. Continuous rating up to +250°C. For boiler, heater and industrial equipment leads running hot for long periods.

+300°C

Fiberglass braid over silicone

Silicone core with a woven fiberglass braid jacket, nickel-plated copper conductor. Continuous rating to +300°C with added abrasion protection. For furnaces, kilns and engine exhaust areas.

Rule of thumb

• Ambient up to +200°C → standard silicone wire, tinned copper

• Sustained heat around +250°C → high-temp silicone, tinned or nickel conductor

• +250°C to +300°C, with abrasion → fiberglass braid + nickel-plated copper

• Chemical exposure or +260°C with stiffness OK → consider PTFE instead of silicone

• Always separate continuous from peak - sustained peaks shorten cable life

Heat Resistant Silicone Wire - Built to Survive Where Other Cable Fails

Standard PVC and rubber cable has a hard ceiling: PVC softens and degrades around +70–105°C, and even cross-linked rubber rarely survives beyond +125°C. Inside an oven, a furnace, a boiler or an engine bay, that ceiling is reached in minutes - the insulation hardens, cracks and exposes the conductor. A heat resistant silicone wire is designed for exactly this environment: silicone rubber stays flexible and insulating from -60°C up to +200°C continuous (and higher with the right grade), does not melt or flow, and is self-extinguishing. Where even higher temperatures are needed, a fiberglass braid over the silicone reaches +300°C, and a nickel-plated copper conductor keeps the metal itself from oxidizing. This page explains the temperature grades, the conductor choices, and how to pick between silicone, PTFE and fiberglass for your application.

FAQ

Q: What temperature can heat resistant silicone wire handle?

A:Standard heat resistant silicone wire is rated for continuous use from -60°C to +200°C (-76°F to +392°F) and can withstand short-term peaks up to about +250°C. For higher continuous temperatures we offer a +250°C grade, and where +250°C to +300°C continuous is needed we add a fiberglass braid over the silicone. At the very top of the range, nickel-plated copper conductor with a fiberglass braid withstands +300°C and beyond for intermittent duty. Always confirm continuous vs intermittent temperature when specifying, because long-term heat aging shortens life above the continuous rating.

Q: What is the difference between silicone and PTFE insulated heat resistant wire?

A:Silicone rubber is flexible, stays soft over -60°C to +200°C, resists moisture and ozone, and is economical - but its mechanical strength and abrasion resistance are moderate, and it is limited above +250°C. PTFE (Teflon) withstands up to about +260°C continuous, has excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, but is stiffer and more expensive. Fiberglass braid over silicone extends the temperature to +300°C and adds abrasion protection at lower cost than PTFE. The choice depends on temperature, flexibility, abrasion and chemical exposure.

Q: What conductor is used in heat resistant silicone wire?

A: For normal temperatures we use tinned copper, which resists oxidation at heat and prevents the copper from turning brittle. For extreme temperatures - above roughly +250°C continuous - the tinning itself can degrade, so we use nickel-plated copper, which holds up at +300°C and above. For some aerospace and heating-element applications pure nickel conductor is used. The conductor choice follows the temperature and the environment.

Q: Does silicone wire melt or burn?

A: Silicone rubber does not melt like PVC - it has no sharp melting point. When exposed to flame it forms an ash (silica) that continues to insulate, and it is self-extinguishing, so it does not propagate a fire. This is why silicone wire is used in safety-critical and high-temperature applications: even under extreme heat the insulation does not flow away and expose the conductor.

Q: What applications use heat resistant silicone wire?

A: Heat resistant silicone wire is used wherever a conductor runs near a heat source: inside ovens, furnaces and kilns; in boiler, heater and heating-element leads; engine and exhaust-area wiring; glass and ceramic manufacturing equipment; foundry and steel-plant instrumentation; aerospace and defence harnesses; and any appliance, transformer or industrial machine where ambient temperature exceeds what PVC or standard rubber can survive.

Q: What is the MOQ and lead time for heat resistant silicone wire?

A: MOQ is 5,000 m for standard heat resistant silicone wire (tinned copper, +200°C, 16–18 AWG, red or black) and 8,000 m for fiberglass braided +300°C, nickel-plated conductor or custom colours and printing. Lead time is 15–25 working days for bulk OEM orders, with samples available in 5–7 working days. We support custom colours, custom printing and private-label packaging.
