Why Silicone Insulated Wire Is the Workhorse of High-Temperature Wiring

Inside an electric motor, a transformer, an LED driver, an EV battery or a household appliance, the wire is asked to survive temperatures that ordinary PVC insulation cannot. PVC softens above 105 °C and embrittles below 0 °C. Silicone insulated wire solves both ends of the range - it retains its dielectric strength from –60 °C to +200 °C, self-extinguishes in flame, resists ozone, oils and aging, and stays flexible across thousands of thermal cycles. That combination of dielectric stability, thermal endurance and mechanical flexibility is why silicone rubber is the standard insulation for Class H (180 °C) and Class C (220 °C) equipment per NEMA MW 36 and IEC 60085.
